It is nice to know that there are young adult retreats. However, I am disappointed that this is not publicized as much as youth councils. I have not been informed about it through my corps and neither am I aware that there are websites such as boothyouth.com where this information is available. I just happened to stumble across this website because my officer told me about the Candidate Seminar and I wanted to find out information for myself. I must honestly say that it hurts me deeply that I have missed out on the many Young Adult Retreats within the Army due to lack of communication about these events. The young adult population is declining in a number of Salvation Army corps and it is important that more emphasis is placed on the young adults who have graduated from college and/or working as opposed to just youth councils. I have enjoyed many youth councils growing up but have felt put out to pasture after I was past the age. I don’t know what it is like in other corps but this has been my experience in the Salvation Army and for others that I know as well.

As a young adult, I feel very strongly about this because there was a period of time (a few years ago) when I needed someone to minister to me and I needed to know God’s purpose for my life but it wasn’t available for me.
